"There's a lot of networking that goes on here, and it's very good to be able to share information with other universities. There's a great sense of community here, and quite frankly this conference has been quite fabulous in its activities."

Destination 2020: Vision for Education

FUSION 2008 Executive Program

Monday, July 21, 2008

Destination 2020: Vision for Education invites academic leaders to connect with their peers and inspire one another to bring their institutional visions to life. Defining the future direction for an institution or organization demands confidence, insight and understanding. Desire2Learn's Executive Program embarks on the journey to bring these attributes to the forefront and inspire ideas for the future.

The Executive Program will establish an environment where peers collaborate and create powerful outcomes. The Program also offers the opportunity to hear from expert speakers who will share their perspectives in building the future of an organization. This one-day session offers Senior and Executive Academic Leaders the opportunity to gain the insight required to bring their vision to life.

The inaugural Executive Program at FUSION 2008 presents a unique opportunity not to be missed!

Connectives and Collectives: Learning Alone, Together

The continued popularity of social learning theory is augmented by the recent development of participative technologies such as blogs, wikis, social bookmarking, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Learners can readily access and contribute to the concepts and ideas of others. Most educational institutions are concerned with evaluating the activities of individuals, rather than the activities of "the many". This session will explore how learners and educators can form learning networks, striking a balance between learning as individuals and learning in groups. Emphasis will be placed on a) changes to how information is created, shared, and disseminated, and b) how connections with other learners and educators are formed with the aid of technology.
