- Security and Control: through the use of Topics and Domains, Analytics Administrators can define the data types, filters and conditions defined for your institution.
- AdHoc Dashboard and Report tools allow for further refinement to capture exactly the right format, detail, or condition to ensure you can get the right information every time.
- Customizable predefined reports allow you to derive immediate value without drilling or building your own reports. The Reports Repository allows you to save, schedule, or send your refined and filtered reports as well as accessing reports or dashboard objects you've created through the AdHoc tools.
- Publish to the Learning Environment Widget Library: By publishing reports, or report components such as charts or graphs, Analytics Administrators can seed relevant data to any user throughout the Learning Environment using your existing Roles and permissions. Full Integration with the Desire2Learn Learning Environment
Simply login to a portal page using your Desire2Learn system user account and pass through to a branded portal page. Only users with authorized access are able to view the Analytics tool within the navbar. Those who do not have rights to access Analytics simply wouldn't see a link to the tool. Once authenticated and the Desire2Learn Analytics tool is selected, you will see a dashboard view and additional navigation options which allows for browsing different datasets, reports, and drill-downs specific to your role.
Desire2Learn Analytics Architecture
Desire2Learn Analytics is based on a robust and extensible platform. This allows for multiple levels of refinement along with the addition of new datasets as environments expand and technology evolves. The Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) program pulls data from its original operational system and moves it to an offline, source or subject specific database or data mart where it's staged to be consumed by the presentation layer for direct consumption.
Analytics Administrators can build and publish reports or report components to the Widget Library within the Learning Environment to ensure your institution's privacy and data access policies are fully enforced.
The architecture provides scalability by removing the impact of reporting on production systems as well as containing source/subject specific data to its own database structure. This containment supports multiple levels of security, refinement and archiving ensuring a proper balance is achieved between the rarely used archived data/logs and the relevant online data used to drive the reports used on a regular basis.
