Data Warehouse Architect / Senior DBA

General Description:
The Data Warehouse Architect is a member of the
business applications team within the Information Technology Department. Responsible for the
definition, design and implementation of the Datawarehouse and internal Business Intelligence
reporting. They will be excellent communicators capable of taking complex business and analytical
requirements and translating them into systems that improve efficiencies and drive the businesses of
our end users.

Location: Kitchener, Ontario
Main Duties:
- Design & Implementation of BI Architecture
- Debug, monitor, troubleshoot, optimize and maintain the Datawarehouse & other internal
SQL based architecture
- Provide technical design & development assistance for BI / Reporting and integration
needs for all internal applications and custom projects
- Evaluate existing and new technologies and provide recommendations & best
practices
- Creation of reports and dashboards
- Architecting system integrations as they pertain to BI
- Data modeling
- ETL, SSRS/SSAS development
- Maintain timely and accurate data
- Monitoring of Datawarehouse infrastructure
Responsibilities:
- Work with non technical business users and managers to understand their reporting requirements and
demonstrate where the Datawarehouse / bi solutions can support their processes
- Work with system administrators to implement best practices around the Datawarehouse stack
- Ensure the automation and reliability of the reporting infrastructure
Work Experience Recommendations:
- Minimum 5 years' experience with data warehousing technologies such as ETL, OLAP Cubes, Data
Modeling
- Minimum 5 years' experience with Microsoft Technologies including Dynamics, GP, SharePoint
- Experience with monitoring technologies
- Ability to establish models, principles, and guidelines to enable the efficient processing of data
into the data warehouse and its efficient consumption via data mining techniques and reports, including
the design of efficient data warehousing structures.
- Be able to translate product requirements into appropriate models, and to draw on skills in data-
related fields, to create data mining solutions.
- Experience in text mining and machine intelligence models.
- Experience in specialized data mining tools and languages and experience with product integration
with data mining tools.
- Database systems and software design and development skills
Recommended
- Understanding of data warehousing challenges compared to traditional normalized
designs
Education:
Required
- Computer science/engineering: in particular the areas of Data mining, Statistical Machine Learning,
Database Systems, Algorithm Design, and Machine Intelligence

- Graduate-level studies or research work.
