Implementation Consultant (Ref #D2LIMC2008)

General Description:

Desire2Learn is hiring an Implementation Consultant who will work directly with clients to deploy and integrate Desire2Learn products. Implementation Consultants work closely with our clients and other members of the Professional Services Organization to scope, plan, design and implement solutions based on Desire2Learn products that contribute to the business goals of our clients. Examples of client projects include real-time and batch integration to other business systems, access management integration, custom solutions development and custom reporting.

The ideal candidate should be a quick learner, have excellent technical skills and be passionate about customer satisfaction and success. The individual should also thrive in a fast-paced environment, readily take ownership of projects and tasks, and have outstanding client communication skills.

Type of Position: Full-time

Location: Kitchener, Ontario

Main Duties:

  • Consult with clients to gather and document functional and non-functional requirements
  • Provide consultation to determine hardware sizing and resource planning
  • Provide consultation on advanced application setups
  • Perform gap analysis on client requirements and Desire2Learn products
  • Design and implement solutions to meet client requirements
  • Prepare design documentation and technical documentation
  • Provides consultation to clients regarding integration solutions
  • Provides guidance on configuring Desire2Learn integration tools
  • Provides recommendations to the Product Management team on future product functionality
  • Documents details of client integrations
  • Provides input on project plans
  • Provides input on product roadmap for the integration tools

Work Experience Recommendations:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated consulting experience (internal or external)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate information and issues clearly and succinctly with both technical and non-technical colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn new concepts and processes quickly
  • Ability to work independently or effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage small technical teams
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time and reprioritize tasks as necessary
  • Strong knowledge of :
    • Database management, including SQL and relational concepts
    • Development of solutions leveraging the .NET Framework, including ASP.NET and Web Services
    • C# (Java and other object-oriented development experience will be considered as well)
    • Microsoft IIS
    • XML and XSD
    • LDAP and Application Access Management would be considered an asset
  • Microsoft Certifications would be considered an asset (MCSD, MCSE, etc)
  • Some travel to client sites may be required
  • Fluency in a second language would be considered an asset

Education Recommendations:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Science or Engineering
