What would I be doing in this role at Desire2Learn?

We have a variety of opportunities available. So whether you are an experienced Quality Assurance Developer (QA Developer) or recent co-op graduate, your mission is to find innovative ways to ensure the quality of your products, while at the same time improving the testing process.

You are highly technical, with a deep and practical understanding of software architecture, standards and code. You write applications to automate the testing. Whether you are using tools or performing manual testing, you have the ability to verify product quality and isolate problems down to the code level.

QA Developers work closely with Product Designers, Software Developers, Project and Program Managers, Product Managers, Developer/Analysts and the Support department.

What would my main duties be?

  • Develop and maintain code and applications related to testing activities
  • Create effective strategies for testing based on functional and technical needs
  • Take a planned and self-directed exploratory approach to testing
  • Script and execute automated tests
  • Write, track and follow-up on defects, workarounds and fixes
  • Analyze results and deliver test summaries and recommendations to the product team
  • Use your experience to anticipate/prevent bugs from happening by collaborating throughout the project with your teammates.
  • Contribute to the improvement of how we do testing at Desire2Learn.

What is Desire2Learn looking for from me?

  • An understanding of testing and the value that automation delivers
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with testing of software on various platforms
  • Familiarity with issue-tracking software
  • Software design and development skills with some experience in application development, web and mobile applications, web services, relational databases and systems integration using programming languages such as .NET, SQL, XML, JavaScript, C#
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable - ability to work in an agile team
  • Experience with security and performance testing is an asset

Education Recommendations

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
