The Learning Repository offers a variety of new features and key benefits that lead the market in innovation, including:
Federated Searching
You can perform searches on the local repository or on an extended repository which can include the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT)
cooperative. Results display the origin of the object and can expand the search capability.
Additional Search Options
You can further refine searches for searching Learning Objects allows users to choose specific options, such as rating, object status, publish date, and object type. These
flexible features allow users the ability to easily retrieve objects that are relevant to them.
Browsable Taxonomies
Objects tagged with metadata according to a taxon classification are retrievable by browsing the classification for objects. Users can start with a broad focus and refine
it until a desired object is found. Organizations can create and import their own taxonomy hierarchies as necessary to address their specific needs.
Harvesting
Harvesting enables organizations to share objects between different institutions, access content distributed over different servers and harvest from other sites using OAI-PMH.
Harvesting external repositories enables users to search metadata from open repositories locally, integrate external search results into local search results and provide localized
peer reviews of learning objects. By allowing one or more of your organization's repositories to be harvested, you too can share openly. Users can protect object files while
providing others the ability to view local objects.
Metadata Administrator
The metadata administrator is a single area where all metadata templates and profiles are located, allowing you to manage your metadata in one central location.

Objects can be tagged with a status that ensures they are properly reviewed before being approved for use. You can filter and search Learning Objects based on the assigned
status. Object status facilitates publishing workflow and provides additional information for searching objects in the Learning Repository.
Peer Reviews

greater flexibility and assistance in group development of Learning Objects. Users can also use the reviews commenting area to link to related Learning Objects.
Event Logs and Reporting
The advanced reporting function includes a generic event log that can be filtered and displayed according to the your selected search options. This provides increased
flexibility for viewing Learning Object activities and makes additional information available for users to search and report on.
