Desire2Learn and Partners Raise Funds to Donate XO Laptops to the One Laptop Per Child program

SYNOPSIS: Desire2Learn, along with Microsoft, Elluminate and Respondus, generate funding to obtain 15 XO laptops in support of the One Laptop Per Child Program

Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, and Orlando, FL, November 7, 2008 – Desire2Learn Incorporated (Desire2Learn), a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise eLearning solutions, along with Desire2Learn Select Partners Elluminate, Microsoft and Respondus, have raised funds in support of the purchase of 15 XO laptops for the One Laptop Per Child Program. Through the XOXO program, part of these companies' activities at EDUCAUSE 2008, eLearning needs of students in underprivileged areas of the world will be addressed.

A donation was activated for each attendee who visited the Desire2Learn, Elluminate, Microsoft and Respondus booths at the conference. The goal of the XOXO Program was to raise enough monies to provide 15 laptops to One Laptop Per Child. That goal was easily reached.

"We are excited by the enthusiasm this program generated among participants at EDUCAUSE," commented Samuel Klein, Head of Community Development, One Laptop per Child. "It is through the involvement of companies such as Desire2Learn and its partners that our program is able to provide children in the most needy countries with these powerful tools to assist them in collaboration, for work and play, for drawing, writing and mathematics."
