SYNOPSIS: The 3rd annual Desire2Learn Users Conference - Expanding Horizons - to be held at the University of Guelph from July 30th to August 2nd, 2006.

Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, Canada, November 14, 2005 – The main sessions for the Third Annual Desire2Learn Users' Conference will be held July 30th to August 2nd, 2006, at the University of Guelph, 65 km (~40 miles) west of Toronto, Ontario.  With hundreds of organizations now using Desire2Learn, there is tremendous value in bringing clients together so that they can share ideas, collaborate, learn and build supportive communities with other D2L users.

As the first adopter of the D2L Learning Platform, the Office of Open Learning (OOL) at the University of Guelph is pleased to be selected as host and co-sponsor of the 2006 D2L Users conference, and looks forward to inviting D2L clients from around the world to the Guelph campus.  "We have a great record of partnership and innovation, as our DE program has grown alongside D2L," says Virginia Gray, director of OOL.  "Our distance learning specialists and faculty partners look forward to sharing our perspectives on how the D2L learning platform has been used to promote effective pedagogical results in online learning, as well as our rich experience in the use and management of the administrative tools provided through the D2L platform."

The 2006 conference will focus on offering a range of client-delivered sessions geared to all types of users (e.g. learners, faculty/instructors, administrators, etc.) and at various levels of experience.  "This is an event supported by Desire2Learn, but it is organized by D2L users for D2L users," states John Baker, CEO of Desire2Learn.  "We want to ensure that this event is helping to provide an opportunity to allow for greater client collaboration." The conference will also provide an opportunity to interact with all the key teams at Desire2Learn via sessions, and round-table discussions.

Conference Attendees can expect to:
