Maryville University Selects Desire2Learn

Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, Canada, March 8, 2007 – Maryville University, a private, co-educational university in St. Louis, has selected Desire2Learn to be their eLearning provider. Maryville University conducted a thorough evaluation of a number of Learning Management Systems based on specific criteria determined by their faculty and staff.

"Through surveying a number of our faculty and staff, it was quickly determined that our users were not happy with their current Learning Management System. As a result, we conducted a detailed evaluation process and were impressed by Desire2Learn's focus on customer service," states Julie Bergfeld, Director of Academic Computing and Instructional Technology at Maryville University. "There were a number of factors that stood out about Desire2Learn. The faculty and staff were particularly impressed with the Learning Environment's ease of use, online collaboration tools, and reliability."

Maryville University will replace its existing WebCT platform with the Desire2Learn Learning Environment. The Desire2Learn Learning Environment will expand the school's ability to serve its quickly growing enrollment rate. Maryville University serves nearly 3,500 students per semester and looks to expand their adult education program later this year.

"We are thrilled to have Maryville University select Desire2Learn as their eLearning provider," states John Baker, Desire2Learn President & CEO. "We look forward to working closely with Maryville University throughout the years as they build and expand upon their new eLearning initiatives."

Maryville University has chosen to implement the Desire2Learn Learning Environment in a hosted environment, providing a fully managed 24X7 service for its mission critical infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime of their eLearning program.
