Desire2Learn Learning Repository takes resource storage, sharing, and distribution to the next level with the inclusion of advanced searching and browsing, full-text indexing, assessment storage, metadata, and classification of materials tailored to meet our clients' needs.
Permissions and Rights Management
Advanced administrative features in Learning Repository provide clients the ability to define and secure intellectual property and control granular permissions on data to any user within the organization. Additional support for Creative Commons attribution allows for quick and easy ways to identify learning objects that are openly available for reuse or remix.
Peer Reviews
Users can provide their name and date along with a comment and rating for a learning object which ensures quality and enables an in-depth approval process. Peer reviews provide for greater flexibility and assistance in group development of learning objects.
Interoperability
Learning Repository provides an open and interoperable standards-based environment. Searching can be federated through the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) cooperative, or any other repository that supports SRU. Harvesting with OAI-PMH enables our clients to centralize searching of open repositories and the ability to selectively open their repository for others to search. This advanced functionality gives our clients a powerful platform for learning object management, and integration with other systems like library resources.
Assessments and Question Bank with SCORM Integration
Store, search, and reuse assessments and questions across the organization. Assessments can be quickly tagged with associated learning objectives or standards. Clients can also publish SCORM objects directly to Learning Repository. These SCORM objects can then be accessed within Desire2Learn Learning Environment.
Advanced Search Options
Searching is easier than ever with a sleek search interface, browsing, search suggestions, filters, and facets. Full text indexing support allows for parsing and searching of full documents and web files. Items can easily be sorted by specific properties, such as rating, object status, learning standard, publish date, and object type. These flexible features empower users to retrieve objects that are relevant to them. By subscribing to RSS feeds, users can be kept informed of objects added to a particular area of interest.
Course Builder™ Simplifies Course Sharing and Building
Our Learning Environment Course Builder tool enables drag-and-drop functionality of learning objects from Desire2Learn Learning Repository directly into a Desire2Learn Learning Environment course. Users can search a repository directly from Course Builder to retrieve content, quizzes, rubrics, and other assessments and place them directly into the course they are building.
Out of the Box Experience
A pre-defined sample repository with sample learning objects, trusts, and roles gives new users a hands-on experience with the Learning Repository for building out their next course and sharing with others.
Metadata
Harness metadata for your material with custom views and automatic metadata population through templates. Customizing metadata field names and setting up specific vocabularies for tagging and searching makes metadata meaningful for organizations. Additionally, enforce the inclusion of metadata in the publishing process to ensure the content is accessible and valuable to a wider audience.
Reporting Functionality
Detailed logging and reporting enables organizations to account for how learning objects are used, by whom, and when.
